After much anticipation our Design-A-Thon Day has arrived at St Bernadette's!
The Design-A-Thon provides students with the opportunity to utilise their creative and innovative skills, designing various sculptures, artworks and products.
The students involved had a blast and we're all looking forward to our next Design-A-Thon in 2018!

Our STEM Enrichment groups have been busy working on the physics applied to creating a rollercoaster. Our senior group got theirs going first and have been mentoring our junior groups. What a great way for them to build their communication skills in preparation for STEM MAD in Adelaide? What's the science? Creating a rollercoaster model involves applying fundamental physics concepts, primarily the law of conservation of energy and the interconversion of gravitational potential energy (at height) and kinetic energy (due to speed). SO exciting when it works!!!!!!

Our debating team recently took on St Angela’s Castle Hill with the topic “AI hinders learning in the classroom.” This contemporary topic sparked an engaging debate, with both sides presenting strong arguments for and against the use of AI in education. Although we didn’t come away with the win today, our team should feel very proud of their efforts. They showed impressive skills in presenting their points and confidently refuting opposing arguments. This was the final round of the Hills Cluster Debating Competition—congratulations to all students who participated across the rounds this year!
