Dance students impressed the crowd with a range of dazzling performances
Hundreds of students from 35 primary and secondary Catholic schools from across the Diocese showcased their creative talents in a series of music, dance and strings performances throughout June, culminating in the ‘Best Of’ performance on 23 June.
The showcase events demonstrated the high calibre of choral, music and dance work from Catholic schools, under the Parramatta Diocese’s creative and performing arts initiative, CAPTIVATE.
The program provides learning and performance experiences for students, as well as builds expertise and a sense of community across the system. CAPTIVATE is very popular with five new schools joining the program since last year.

What an amazing day Stage 3 had at the Soccer Gala Day! The day was filled with sunshine, fun, teamwork and friendship. Our students represented the school with pride, demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship, determination and some impressive soccer skills throughout the day. A big thank you to our wonderful parents for coming along to support and encourage the children. We are also incredibly grateful to the parents who generously volunteered their time to coach a team. Your support helped make the day such a success. Congratulations to all of our Stage 3 students on a fantastic day! We are also thrilled to celebrate these excellent results: Year 6 Boys: 🥇 1st Place (Undefeated) Year 5 Girls: 🥈 2nd Place Year 5 Boys: 6th Place Year 5/6 Girls: 7th Place Well done, Stage 3! Year 5 spent a lovely morning with some residents from BUPA Aged care last week. They spent time chatting and sharing stories, enjoyed a nice cup of tea and some delicious cake. They were also entertained by our school choir. The morning finished with a very exciting game of bingo, they were all winners.

What a fantastic day our Stage 3 students had today at the Touch Football Gala Day in St Marys! Despite a frosty morning start, the sun came out, and so did our Bernies spirit! Every single student showed incredible sportsmanship, played their hearts out, and most importantly, had a blast on the field. We are super proud of everyone’s efforts and fantastic team spirit! Sydney Swifts Netball Clinic Over the past few weeks Year 6 were invited to participate in a four day curriculum mapped program run by the Sydney Swifts. They engaged in activities both in the classroom and on the netball court which supported students’ learning in wellbeing, relationships and movement. Today was our last session which involved meeting one of the players from the Swifts, Tayla Fraser. She even took the time at the end to sign some autographs for our huge Swifty fans!

That’s a wrap! 🇦🇺 Last night was full of laughter with a late-night visit to Questacon and an impromptu talent show. Today we explored Embassy Drive, visited the National Zoo & Aquarium, and wrapped up our adventure at the AIS. Canberra, you’ve been a delight! Thank you for turning on the sunshine and giving us so many unforgettable memories. Our hearts are full, our bodies are weary, and we’re now Sydney bound! 🚌☀️

Year 6 have had a fabulous first day in Canberra! 🇦🇺 Today we explored some of our nation’s most iconic places including the Mint, Parliament House, the Museum of Australian Democracy, the Australian War Memorial and enjoyed the incredible views from Mt Ainslie. After a delicious dinner, the excitement continues as we head off to Questacon for an evening of fun and discovery. Looking forward to another amazing day tomorrow!
