As Sydney passes 100 days of lockdown, ABC News reporters have been out speaking to Sydneysiders about what they're looking forward to most when lockdown is lifted.
St Bernadette's Primary Castle Hill teacher Kristina Jurcevic explained how she and her fellow teachers are really missing in-person teaching and not being able to witness those lightbulb moments for her young students.
St Bernadette's kindergarten student Emily also spoke about how she's missing her friends and teacher and having to celebrate her sixth birthday during the lockdown.

On Monday the Wellbeing Library hosted another Preschool Storytime. Our visitors read lots of books, played with our new friends in Year 5 and even met some friends for 2026. Mums and Dads had a lovely time making connections with one another. LOOK OUT FOR TERM 3 STORYTIME.

Safe, respectful, resilient learners are rewarded at St Bernadette's. So many Bernie Roos this semester were traded for gems our whole school jar was filled almost twice over. PJ Day next Thursday for our whole school reward - roll straight out of bed and into the classroom!

Today, Year 2 students explored the concept of mixing materials and observed the changes that occur when different ingredients are combined. They acted as chemists, mixing flour, cream of tartar, water, food colouring, and oil to make playdough. This activity demonstrated a chemical change. What a 'mix-tastic' day it was for Year 2!

“Our school will be hosting a ThinkUKnow presentation on 30 June 2025, at 6:30pm, in the St Bernadette’s Primary School Library, and all parents, carers and teachers are encouraged to attend. ThinkUKnow Australia is an evidence-based education program delivered nationally to prevent online child sexual exploitation. ThinkUKnow Australia is a partnership between the Australian Federal Police, Microsoft Australia, Datacom, and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. The program is delivered in collaboration with policing partners New South Wales Police Force, Northern Territory Police, Queensland Police, South Australia Police, Tasmania Police, Western Australia Police, as well as Neighbourhood Watch Australasia. The presentation will be delivered by a local law enforcement member and an industry volunteer. The presentation is pro-technology and addresses topics including self-generated child abuse material, online grooming, sexual extortion, and importantly, encourages help-seeking behaviour. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn more about young people and the online environment, and how you can help them to be safe and responsible users of technology.

On Friday, our Affirmative and Negative teams took on St Paul The Apostle, Winston Hills, debating the topic "Gaming is a real sport." While both teams narrowly missed out on a win, our students spoke with confidence, teamwork, and great spirit. It was a lively and entertaining debate, and we’re so proud of how they represented St Bernadette’s. Well done to everyone involved — we’re looking forward to the next round!
